Bio
Since 1991, the Amadeus String Ensemble has
specialized in presenting fine classical music for wedding
ceremonies and social events in metropolitan Atlanta.
The ensemble was founded by violinists Sou-Chun Su and
his wife Sheela Lyengar Su, both graduates of the Cleveland
Institute of Music. Sou-Chun, the associate principal second
violinist of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, and Sheela, who
also performs regularly with the ASO, collaborate with some
of the city's most talented musicians to bring you elegant
music for your wedding day or special occasion.
The Amadeus String Ensemble performs mainly as a
string quartet (two violins, viola and cello). It is the
most popular and highly recommended ensemble we offer
because of the richness of its sound and the broad range of
its repertoire. However, there are other options available
such as a string trio, duet featuring a violin and harp, two
violins, a violin and cello, or a solo violin. The ensemble
can also perform with a trumpet or flute upon request.
We have a wide variety of music available and our
experienced musicians will consult with you to personalize a
program that will suit your needs and honor any special
requests.
The ASE is committed to bringing you beautiful
music for your ceremony and giving it the perfect touch. Our
high artistic standards will make your wedding day
memorable.
The Amadeus String Ensemble is happy to assist you in
selecting the music for your wedding ceremony and make it a
fun and personal experience.
Our most requested ensemble is the string quartet. It
produces a broad range of sounds and colors and creates the
effect of a small orchestra that so many people love. A
string trio or duet can also achieve the same goal, but on a
smaller scale. Some of our brides prefer the sound of a
flute or harp in combination with a violin to give it a
different touch, while others find the bridal entrance with
a trumpet fanfare to be a thrilling experience.
The choice of the ensemble can depend on your preference
in sound, the venue size and number of guests, or budgetary
requirements, and we will be glad to assist you in making
the decision.
In a typical ceremony, we will perform at these moments:
- Twenty to thirty minutes prior to the ceremony, guests
arrive, are seated, and the prelude music is played to
welcome them and draw them into the occasion.
- A separate piece for the seating of mothers or
grandmothers signifies that the ceremony has begun,
followed by the processional music for the wedding
attendants and minister or judge.
- The bride then walks down the aisle, making her grand
entrance to the music selected just for her.
- After the couple is pronounced husband and wife, the
newlyweds and their attendants exit to a lively and
joyful piece celebrating their union.
- Some couples will also include a unity candle or
communion in their ceremonies. We often perform during
these moments as well.
For social functions, such as receptions, cocktail hours,
or dinner parties, we provide music ranging from well known
light classical pieces by Mozart, Bach or Vivaldi to popular
Broadway showtunes by Andrew Lloyd Weber and others. Our
music will create an upbeat and elegant atmosphere for your
event.
