Bio
Riza Hequibal has always had a love for
music and its various means of interpretation. For over
eighteen years, she has performed extensively as a soloist
as well as in an array of ensembles across the country. She
currently freelances throughout the Atlanta area and is
highly sought out for her unique styling.
Riza pursued her undergraduate studies (from 1990 - 1993 in
both Classical and Jazz disciplines) at the Indiana
University School of Music, Bloomington, IN under the
instruction of Distinguished Professor of Harp - Susan
McDonald and equally renowned Professor of Jazz - David
Baker. She has also studied with ground breaking jazz
harpist, Deborah Henson-Conant. In 1994, Riza received her
Bachelors of Music from Columbia College, Chicago, IL where
she continued her studies in jazz. In 2005, she received a
Master of Music from Georgia State University's School of
Music under the instruction of Elisabeth Remy, Principal
Harpist of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra.
In addition to her vast repertoire of Classical Music, Riza
also provides unique and elegant original stylings of Jazz
Standards, Bossa Nova & Show Tunes.
She is able to perform with ensembles of various sizes -
from solo harp to duos (harp and cello, flute, or violin or
two harps) and trios (harp, cello, violin or flute and harp,
violin and flute).
Riza is also available for harp & piano instruction.
